What is an FRG? A Family Readiness Group (FRG) is an organization of family members volunteers, service members, retirees, youth and community members, working together to achieve the highest standard of unit and family readiness. FRGs provide readiness, practical and emotional support to help families prepare for deployment and keep them strong during separation. They can help Guard families make new, helpful friends and get information about everything from mobilization and deployment to plumbing, car repair, child care, financial matters, TRICARE, pay issues, teenagers and elder care. Plus, they sponsor projects—like creating newsletters, planning social functions, and organizing events—that you can participate in. Get involved—a little or a lot! It will help you, your family, your FRG, and your Guard unit. How do I Join? If you have an interest in a Guard unit, you’re already a member of its FRG. Maybe you’re a Guard member, or a member’s spouse, son or daughter, mother or father, boyfriend or girlfriend. Maybe you’re a Guard retiree, community service volunteer, employer, or neighbor. All the service members attached to the same unit or organization, plus their family members, are the core of the FRG. Anyone else who cares is welcome to join them. All you have to do is get involved |
