218th Enhanced Separate Brigade

"Steadfast of purpose"

The 218th ESB will mobilize and deploy 1800 soldiers from South Carolina and five other states to Afghanistan. These soldiers will provide training support to the Afghan National Army. This will be the largest single deployment of the South Carolina National Guard for Federal service since World War II.

Task Force Phoenix derives its name from Greek and Egyptian mythology. The Phoenix is a bird that rises from its own ashes and is reborn. The 218th ESB is looking forward to assisting our Afghan friends as they rebuild their country so that, like the Phoenix, it can rise again and take its proper place among the nations.
