POSITION TITLE: CH-47 MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT

PAY PLAN/SERIES/GRADE: GS-2181-9/11/12     

SALARY RANGE: GS-09: $44,933-$58,417; GS-11:$54,364-$70,674 ; GS-12:$65,159-$84,711 per annum (Incl. 12.91% locality pay)

UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Individual selected may be required to be a member of DET 1, B Co., 2/238th, GSAB

ATTENTION: (1) If you are currently receiving an incentive bonus from the National Guard and (2) if you are selected for a permanent technician position (not temporary or indefinite), your bonus will be terminated and you may be required to repay the entire amount.

 

1.  AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Individual may apply who meet the basic qualifications for this position and who meet the eligibility criteria to be enlisted in a compatible military positioning the South Carolina Army National Guard.  The selectee must be appointed in the South Carolina Army National Guard prior to employment. 

 

2.  INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING:

National Guard Installations:  Any application received WITHOUT this form attached will disqualify applicant from competing for the job.  Applicants must explain in detail on the AGSC Form 86, how and where each of the Specialized Experience Job Elements was acquired.  You must also list the “from” and “to” dates for each element.

 

c.        Applications must be submitted to arrive in the Human Resources Office (HRO), Stop 16, 1 National Guard Road, Columbia, S.C. 29201-4766, by closing date above.

3.  Prior to filling this position, any individual selected must be qualified for assignment to a military position compatible to his/her technician assignment.  Member must meet minimum physical (ex: color vision, etc.) and aptitude (ex: ASVAB, etc.) requirements to qualify for a compatible MOS/AFSC (contact your military personnel section to confirm your qualifications).  If position requires it, selected applicant must complete any required training school or course.  Acceptance of the position means you understand that if you fail to qualify for the MOS/AFSC and/or complete required training, you will be reassigned (if possible) or terminated.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

 

This position is located in the Aircraft Maintenance Shop of an Army National Guard (ARNG), Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF).  The purpose of the position is to perform maintenance test flights, maintenance operational checks (MOC) and acceptance flights of a variety of rotary wing aircraft. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

General:  The applicant must be rated pilot on flying status; be proficient in the unit assigned aircraft, MUST BE QUALIFIED IN TYPE; possess the flying time and certificate and ratings specified below.  If not AMMOC qualified, must complete within one year.

 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: 

 

Minimum eligibility requirements for this position are based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) helicopter pilot certificate and/or military helicopter pilot rating meeting the applicable flight hour requirements and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the position. 

 

 

GS: 9 Minimum Flight Hour Requirements:

 

  1. 1200 total flight hours.  Copy of Flt Record DA 759 Closeout required. 
  2. 250 hours of PIC in any rotary wing aircraft.
  3. 50 hours night flying.
  4. 100 flying hours last twelve months. 

 

GS: 11/12 Minimum Flight Hour Requirements:

 

  1. 1500 total flight hours.  Copy of Flt Record DA 759 Closeout required. 
  2. 250 hours of PIC in any rotary wing aircraft.
  3. 75 hours night flying.
  4. 100 flying hours last twelve months. 

 

Note:  Up to 200 hours of total flight time & PIC time may be waived if AMMOC Phase I & II qualified

Further Evaluation Criteria:

 

  1. Ability to perform maintenance test flight to determine that the airframe, power plant and accessories are functioning IAW predetermined requirements for purpose of certifying the air worthiness of the complete aircraft.

 

  1. Ability to monitor and oversee the maintenance program by planning, organizing and directing the overall activities of production control, quality control, tech supply and maintenance section.

 

  1. Ability review, analyze and evaluate available data to ensure that maintenance accomplished is performed in accordance with establish standards. 

 

  1. Ability to provide staff assistance to commanders on matters relating to maintenance and operation of Army aircraft and provide information for preparation of operating budget. 

 

  1. Knowledge to direct preparation of appropriate correspondence, reports, forms, and records on aircraft maintenance.

 

  1. Ability to represent AASF Commander in transaction with all level of organization.
