The JAG Corps is America’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious law firm. Established
by General George Washington in 1775, we have grown to approximately 10,000 personnel
(including the Active Army, US Army Reserve, National Guard, and Civilian Corps).

Provide proactive legal support on all issues affecting the Army and the Joint Force,
and deliver quality legal services to Soldiers, retirees, and their Families.
What We Offer
• Bonuses up to $10,000 Receive a one-time payment if authorized by the Department
of Defense.
• Advanced starting rank Direct commissions start as First Lieutenants. Previously
commissioned officers may be eligible for higher starting grades, including Majors.
• Supplementary income Receive a check for monthly and annual training. You’re paid
at your pay grade with credit for time in service.
• Military retirement and benefits Retired members are currently earning more than
$10,000 a year in retirement pay, which will be adjusted upward for cost-of-living
increases.
• Education with compensation Get paid to get educated: We typically receive our
continuing legal education (CLE) for free. Additionally, we have access to an immense
array of in-depth educational opportunities in areas such as trusts and estates,
environmental law, regulatory law, and criminal law – all available upon request.
