Labor Day weekend is upon us, the holiday many consider the “last weekend of summer.” While this holiday is an opportunity to gather with family and friends, it is also a weekend established to celebrate the accomplishments of the American workforce. Our S.C. Military Dept. plays a vital role in supporting our state and nation and you should be proud of the work you do.
Many of you will begin celebrating the holiday with a variety of activities, whether traveling, cooking out, watching football, or simply relaxing, which I encourage you to do. You’ve earned it. Before leaving the workplace, I urge leaders to talk to their team members to discuss safety, risk management and to look out for your Battle-Buddies and Wingmen. We want to ensure that everyone returns safely back to the workplace. Please keep those in your prayers who continue to serve overseas, as well as the more than 200 S.C. National Guard members who are providing support away from home in the National Capitol Region.
Congratulations for all you’ve accomplished this summer, including the many annual training events and exercises you’ve completed, and for all you do each day in support of our citizens. Most students will be returning to school next week, and households will be getting back to daily routines. Enjoy the time off this weekend will provide. From my family to yours, have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend.
